Attendance Drive Information 2025/2026
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are reaching out to ask for your support.
At Sancta Maria College, we know that regular attendance is central to every student’s success and wellbeing. This year, we are putting a strong emphasis on school attendance, and we want to partner with you to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our students.
A key part of working together is ensuring that you have downloaded the school app and turned on notifications. This allows you to check your child’s daily attendance and punctuality with ease.
From this year, the system will also send you a direct notification through the school’s app if your child is absent or late to school. We believe this will help prevent poor habits, while also giving us the opportunity to step in with support at an early stage.
What we ask of you:
- Encourage & support: Help your child arrive on time every day. Our motto is Be Here, Stay Here, All Day, Every Day. Your ongoing encouragement makes a real difference.
- Appointments: Where possible, schedule medical or other appointments outside school hours. If this is unavoidable, please notify your child’s year head in advance and follow the procedures set out on the positive code of behaviour (linked on our website).
- If unsure about attendance: If your child is unwell but you are uncertain whether to send them in, we advise sending them to school as often they feel better once here. If they are contagious, however, please keep them at home until they are fit to return.
- Transport backup plan: Please have a contingency in place if your child misses their usual transport. Options include a family member, neighbour or friend. We also provide bike racks and actively encourage walking where possible.
- Communication: If attendance is becoming difficult, contact us. Phone, email, or speak with us—we are here to help.
- Use the VSWare app regularly: This will give you a clear overview of your child’s attendance and punctuality.
What the school will do:
- Breakfast Club: A free breakfast is available for all students from 8.00–8.30am.
- Warm welcome: Students are greeted at the door each morning.
- Daily monitoring: We will check attendance and punctuality every day.
- Lateness alerts: Parents/guardians will receive an automatic notification through the school app if a child arrives late.
- Follow-up contact: We will contact home if concerns about attendance arise.
- Attendance meetings: Where necessary, you may be invited to meet with us at school to discuss concerns.
- Positive attendance initiatives: Competitions, campaigns, and events will take place during the year to highlight the importance of strong attendance.
We truly believe that open, two-way communication is the key to success. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with your child’s Year Head, the Deputy Principal, or the Principal.
Together, we can make sure every student gets the very best from their school experience.
